When PGA founder Robert White completed Wolf Hollow Country Club’s championship golf course in 1922, the resort saw instant success. The natural backdrop of the Poconos lent the course a beautifully picturesque feel that visitors found irresistible, leading the resort to host the Eastern Open from 1926-1928. Walter Hagen and Gene Sarazen are two of the many golf legends who graced Wolf Hollow’s course in its early days.
Unfortunately, WWII proved a difficult time for Wolf Hollow. Bankruptcy sent the resort into a state of disrepair, from which it didn’t fully recover until this past year. Today guests can visit the gorgeously renovated resort for an experience that surpasses that of even the original guests in the 1920s.
Historical Golf Resort Meets Modern Comfort
When my wife Julie and I took over Wolf Hollow at Water Gap Country Club in 2013, we dedicated our time to modernizing the facilities for the comfort and satisfaction of our guests, while maintaining the resort’s historic feel. Wolf Hollow now possesses a unique blend of luxurious modernity and old world elegance.
Common Areas: The promise of luxury greets you the moment you arrive at Wolf Hollow. The new, light-flooded lobby features glistening hardwood floors and references to our historical past. Learn more about the rich history of our resort by sitting in our fact-lined telephone booth.
Golf Course: While our golf course remains the PGA championship course that attracted visitors in the 1920s, some basic upkeep and improvements have been made. Groundskeepers have renovated the cart paths, greens, teeing grounds, and bunkers. A golf simulator has been added to the Pro Shop so that golf enthusiasts may practice their swing year-round.
